We Won! We Won!
West Lane footballers played an astounding match and are now the winners of the Blaydon & District 7-a-side cup – the first time EVER that the cup has been retained for a second year by a school! We are now through to The Daniel O’Hare Cup, to be played in Sunderland next week!

This week, we had two netball teams who played in the tournament at Kingsmeadow Secondary School – all players showed great teamwork skills and excellent sportsmanship! We came 1st and 2nd, with our 1st team now going through to the finals in December. Well done everyone!read more
In art, Year 6 have been learning about the artist Paulo Grangeon and his ‘Pandas take over’ artwork. Inspired by his panda art, and keen to keep investigating the earth’s problem with plastic pollution, we created our own version of this artwork.read more
This week, Year 6 Oak spent their Golden Time in forest school with Miss Summers and Miss Greaves. They were given a task to build a den with the resources provided.read more

Wow! What amazing (and diverse) talent we have here in our lovely school! From comedians, dancers, painters, writers, miming artists, singers, gifted sportsmen and creative writers – our children showed off their individuality, skills and confidence in some stunning performances at our whole school talent show this week!read more
This week, we enjoyed some amazing sports days / mini sports days at West Lane! Despite the inclement weather – with support from young sports leaders from Thorp Academy and Gateshead School Sports Partenrship – Key Stage 2 pupils enjoyed participating in a variety of team work, competitive and problem solving activities on our fabulous school playing field and it was great to see the parents and teachers getting involved too! On Friday 18th May, after a hard week of SATs, Year 6 went to Beamish museum. We visited all the main attractions and completed a workshop. During our workshop, we looked at gender roles and how they were changed by the Great War…read more
On Friday 25th May almost 400 of us (!) went to Saltwell Park, to participate in the annual ‘Gateshead Schools Fun Run’ event. We arrived by coach and when we got there we enjoyed warming up with the Metro Gnomes!read more
We have been very fortunate to have had such a close relationship with our local church, so this week’s assembly was a particularly sad occasion for our school – as it was Father’s Tom leaving assembly.read more
