Miss Critchlow and Mrs Young are our Year 5 teachers, and they are supported by Miss Roddam. Miss Critchlow teaches Year 5 Birch and Mrs Young teaches Year 5 Lime.

In year 5 we have had great fun designing and making Anglo Saxon brooches! After researching different patterns, we designed our own brooch – thinking carefully about the materials we could use to make our brooches look authentic. We think our finished products look fantastic!read more
At last night’s football match against The English Martyr’s, our team played extremely well together and we drew 1-1!
Fantastic team spirit and great sportsmanship was shown by all – well done to Adam, Mckenzie, Tre, Ellie, Holly, Spencer, Sam and Harvey!
This week, we welcomed back Andrew Mckeown, who is currently creating designs for the Land of Oak and Iron. He needed our help to create some designs which will go on display outside of the Heritage Centre.read more

This has been a proud week for our school – as we have gained the UNICEF (silver level) Rights Respecting Schools Award! We are pleased to announce that we are now an official UNICEF Rights Aware School!read more
This week, Mrs Tetley led us in a ‘Rights Respecting’ assembly to celebrate the life of Martin Luther King – who fought for the rights of African Americans in the 1960’s. This assembly focused upon the United Nations Convention on the Rights of The Child: Article 1 (Everyone under the age of 18 has all the rights in the Convention) and Article 2 (The Convention on the Rights of the Child applies to everyone without exception and Governments should take all measures to ensure that children are protected against all forms of discrimination.)read more

Last week Year 4 became embalmers! Unfortunately, they could not mummify a real body (no ‘body’ would volunteer!), so instead they practised mummifying some tomatoes. To do this they followed a set of instructions…read more
We bet you didn’t know that year 5 are extraordinary fashion designers?! Last week, we sketched outfits into our books inspired by Greek warriors and Goddesses. This week, our challenge was to design outfits based on our original sketches, using recycled materials.read more
