Welcome to Winlaton West Lane Community Primary School where we believe we have something very special and all staff, children, parents and Governors strive to REACH FOR THE STARS! I am very proud to be the Headteacher of a school with such awe-inspiring children, dedicated staff and supportive parents and carers.

Staff and Governors helped to create our vision statement for our wonderful school which is based on a happy, inclusive school which exudes an ethos of opportunity for all: children, staff, Governors, Parents and the wider community of Winlaton. It is an ethos that enables our children to take responsibility and become a brilliant workforce of the future.

Winlaton West Lane Community Primary endeavours to be a forward-thinking school with high expectations of teaching and learning, behaviour and team work. We aspire to be outstanding in all areas of school life.

Year 4 Egyptian Cinderella

Year 4 have been left some mysterious objects as clues to our new literacy, Egyptian Cinderella. We had great fun using our inference and prediction skills to work out who the objects might belong to and where they'd come from.

West Lane choir ‘Sing Big’ at The Sage!

Last Monday, we had brilliant time at The Sage performing at the ‘Big Spring Sing’. Thank you to all of the wonderful West Lane parents who came to support us at the event and a huge thank you to Mrs Kendrick our fabulous music teacher from Gateshead council, who worked alongside Miss Sergison so that we could reach our full potential as a choir. Year 5 help Mrs Young with a ‘hot’ problem!

Mrs Young had a problem: her cup of coffee burnt her hand, but then was cold after 5 minutes. To help solve Mrs Young’s ‘serious’ problem, Year 5 worked in groups and planned an experiment to see which material was the best insulator and would keep her coffee the warmest for the longest period of time.
