Our fantastic football team have impressed us once again by becoming the Blaydon and District 5 a side champs! Our team now progress onto the Durham County 5 a side semi final.

Year 1 visit Newcastle Castle

The children were fantastic on their trip! All the children behaved beautifully and would be welcomed back to the castle. First, we walked around and impressed the staff with our knowledge of castles. Then we became knights at knight school. What a fantastic day!

Year 2 visit Sunderland Glass Centre

Year 2 visited Sunderland Glass Centre as part of our science topic 'materials'. We conducted some experiments to find out whether materials were soluble or not. We also completed some great glass art work and enjoyed watching a glass blowing demonstration.

Year 1 cook for life!

Year 1 had an amazing experience on Friday! We looked at the foods which are grown in the UK and made a tasty Shepherds pie with Nick, from ‘Cooking for Life!’

West Lane Remember Them…

In the week leading up to Remembrance, our whole school participated in a remembrance project – where pupils decorated Winlaton community with pebbles (carefully designed and decorated by the children themselves, with the names of soldiers from World War 1 and 2) for residents to find!

Year 4 freeze frame Rama and Sita!

This week, as part of their learning about Hinduism and the ‘Festival of Light’ Diwali, Year 4 took part in a fantastic dance workshop – facilitated by a very knowledgeable and motivational dance instructor Josh! Take a look at how much fun we all had with our dance moves!

Year 5 explore Hinduism…

As part of our RE day this week, Year 5 children were welcomed into the classroom with the aromas of India! As we have been learning about Hindu festivals and how they are celebrated, we also cooked some Indian food, made Raksha Bandhan bracelets and Diwali lanterns. Wow! What an incredibly eventful day!

West Lane Tag Rubgy Team ‘scout out’ success!

We played in the Y5/6 Tag rugby finals at Blaydon rugby club yesterday, where we came 2nd in the first group! This sent us through to the champions league – where we came 3rd! A massive well done to everyone, especially Lewis M – who was scouted by an England rugby coach!
