Our school parliament have been exceptionally busy this week, not only have we been on a visit to Derwent Care Home on Monday but we also visited London too! Check out the newsletter for more information about the London visit.
Our visit to the care home on Monday was part of raising dementia awareness in our community which has been organised through Beamish. The children had training at school prior to the visit and then we completed an art project with a group of residents at the care home.
Tanya from Beamish was so impressed with our children that she sent the following email:
I think everyone enjoyed it, after a nervous start. The residents certainly all did. I stayed behind and chatted to them after and some of the feedback was ‘had a fabulous afternoon’ ‘I so enjoyed meeting the children’ ‘they are beautiful writers’ ‘I didn’t know what we were going to do but it was really good fun’ ‘it was lovely to do something different’ ‘I think we all did a good job’ ‘I’m so glad I got to do it, I’m very luck’.
So please let the children know that, even those residents who end up not remembering what they have done today, they will know that they had a good day today.
What a credit to our school!
