This week, Year Five explored Sunderland Winter Gardens as part of our Explorer topic. We had the opportunity to learn about different kinds of animals which live in the rainforest, and were intrigued to find out lots of new facts about rainforest animals.

We explored what the rainforest would be like and learnt about the different types of trees that make up the rainforest – we found out about the different layers of the rainforest and were shocked to find that the rainforest is being cut down at an alarming rate of around 20 football pitches every second! After this, we discussed the importance of the rainforest and why the rainforest is so valuable to our world.

We had a great trip, and learnt lots of new exciting information. Well done Year Five!
