We have been very busy this week in Reception! We went on our first trip to Chopwell Woods (which was brilliant!), we learnt some new sounds in our phonics and we have been developing our number work in maths!

This was our first ever trip in reception and we all loved travelling on a big coach! During our trip, we went on a nature walk and a sculpture hunt to discover all of the beautiful pieces of wooden art that can be found within Chopwell Woods. We also used our five senses to help us find things that live in the woods including insects, trees and small animals. We were very lucky to spot a deer as we arrived and we saw some lovely horses too!

We ate our packed lunches (which were delicious) and we all laughed at the jokes which reception class told. They were so funny!

In the afternoon our guide, who was called Rebecca, showed us different leaves and trees in the wood and we went on a bug hunt. She told us an amazing story all about the fairies who live in the tress. We can’t wait to visit Chopwell Wood again!

Meanwhile, in our phonics this week we have been busy learning some new sounds – ‘Ch’ and ‘Sh’. In our maths we have also been continuing and ordering our numbers 1-10, aswell as finding out what is 1 more and 1 less than different numbers. Wow! Such a busy week!
